  JW women focused on appearance!

  it really gets on my nerves.. jw women used to be always focused, as their number one thing, on appearance.

  they could be crap at the rest of the jw stuff, but if they turned up at the meeting dressed nice, thin, long hair, looking nice, all was forgiven.

  My sister and I danced at Bon Odori when we were kids! had a great time...great food too! We had new kimonos almost every year. We stopped going when my older brother started studying seriously with the dubs, I was about 8 years old. Wish I lived closer - it's a great event!

  but the one that stood out most was that he announced that based on the new book, the elders will be checking on those that have not been associating with the congregation for some time.

  they will ask, "do you still want to be a jehovah's witness?

  We're having trouble defining a possible legal course. It is our belief that they did not follow proper procedure, but we've been inactive for 7 years so don't have first hand knowledge of any policy changes. We are familiar with corporate law here in Washington State, but without a copy of the local congregation's by laws, we have no way of knowing if they have violated State law either. So if you have any info or ideas, we'd be glad to hear them!

  I'm not sure that headquarters is directing the big push to 'clean' the congregations. I do know that the local body of elders here where I live have their own personal agenda. I'm sure that recent correspondence from Bethel has fueled this local agenda. But, be sure that, if you piss them off, they will get rid of you...and there is no correct answer to their question, unless you grovel at their feet and go back to living in their box. Mr. Rocky was disfellowshipped this week for 1) not meeting with their kangaroo court 2) pointing out they don't follow the Bible (Matt 18) in resolving problems in the congregation 3) speaking about the pedophile issue. They didn't even bother telling him he has been disfellowshipped - news came from my sis who lives 300 miles away, who heard it from my dad, also 300 miles away, who heard it from my brother, and then confirmed locally by Mr. Rocky's mom! No registered letter, no phone call - just the bum's rush to get the announcement to the congregation. By the way, we haven't attended meetings for about 7 years, not even memorial. But the timing coincides with the recent death of the PO, who was well liked and our business partner. Wasn't even a week after the memorial service at the KH when the new PO called. I'm planning a post in the near future to tell our story - it's a real kicker!

  there's a trend among us that i find disturbing, if not humerous.

  that is the gullibility we sometimes have in believing that the society is close to putting out a "new date" for armageddon.

  Rank and file JWs will always speculate about the big A. WT leadership will make printed statements that indirectly encouarge speculation. Leadership will not admit to setting dates, they have been too burned on that in the past with unfulfilled dates. Rank and file JWs are so anxious for the "system of things" to be over (they are so tired of putting up with evil and chaos and ill prepared for accepting aging and death) that they will easily speculate on possible dates. They would completely lose their sanity if they didn't have some kind of tangible hope (ie date of delivery) to reach for. Even when I was a loyal door-knocking faithful JW, I was saddened by how many people served WT for the reward, and not because it was the right thing to do. (I no longer believe that serving WT is the right thing to do, and no longer worry about dates and prophetic events.) Just my two-cents worth!

  Yes, HIPAA was designed to take care of breaches in confidentiality, and anyone can file a complaint with Health & Human Services, even on behalf of another person. However, if you do file a complaint you will need to be prepared to show exactly what part of the HIPAA law was violated. All health care providers who bill for their services using electronic billing are required to train all employess regarding HIPAA privacy. There are penalities (up to $25,000 plus up to 1 year and 1 day in jail) for being found guilty of breaching HIPAA privacy...but, as I mentioned previously, filing a complaint can be tedious. The first place to complain would be to the JW employee's supervisor.

  I remember hearing public talks and convention/assembly parts about how trustworthy JWs are as employees. Unfortunately this does not apply to the medical field with privacy. From personal experience, I know that rank and file JWs are willing to risk their jobs to report wrongdoing they learn of during the course of their employment.
